MITRA é uma mesa-escultura sonora construída em um rico processo de imaginar uma peça, escolher materiais, dar forma, pensar em resistência, durabilidade, sonoridade, funcionalidade, simbologias e que ainda continue sendo apenas uma mesa.

MITRA é uma divindade persa ligada ao sol, que ganhou novos espaços na Índia, Grécia e Império Romano e se associa à sabedoria, guerra e aos mistérios. Tal qual o Sol, a mesa tem um formato circular na nossa perspectiva visual, mas o som que ela emite vibra de forma esférica.

Feita em Peroba, madeira dos Brasis, terra do sol, tem coloração amarelo vibrante. São 16 cordas e 16 teclas em metal. As cordas estão na vertical e em espiral, como um pico, uma “seta” apontando para o céu. As teclas em metal ficam na horizontal, apontando para todos os 16 pontos cardeais e colaterais. A afinação é majoritariamente diatônica, mas há alguns imprevistos, “caos” nesse percurso “regular”.

MITRA is a Persian deity related to the sun that is also present in India, Greece and the Roman Empire. It is associated with wisdom, war and mysteries. Like the sun, the table has a circular shape in our visual perspective, but the sound it makes vibrates spherically.

Made in Peroba, a wood from Brazil, the land of the sun, the table has a vibrant yellow color. There are 16 strings and 16 metal keys. The strings are vertical and spiral, like a peak, an “arrow” pointing to the sky. The metal keys are horizontal, pointing to the 16 directions of the compass. The tuning is mostly diatonic, but there is some unpredictability: a “chaos” on this “regular” course.
